I was commissioned to develop concept art for Extraordinary, a 3D short film that follows two sisters exploring a fantastical realm, captivated by its unique beauty.Character Design: The Older SisterMy initial focus was on the older sister, an 8–10-year-old blind girl characterized by her adventurous spirit and introverted nature. Her design aimed to reflect these traits while incorporating her passions for reading and the sea. This involved integrating tactile elements and nautical motifs into her appearance, creating a visually cohesive character that resonated with her inner world.Environmental Design: The Fantasy WorldI was also responsible for conceptualizing the two primary settings: the sisters' home and the imagined fantasy world. The latter posed a unique challenge, as it was to be visualized through the perspective of the older sister. To achieve this, I employed a design approach that blended familiar textures and objects in unconventional ways, mirroring how a blind child might construct a mental image of her surroundings. This method involved substituting objects with those of similar tactile qualities and adjusting color schemes to pastel and vibrant hues, enhancing the fantastical atmosphere of the world.This project allowed me to explore the intersection of perception and imagination, creating environments and characters that were both visually compelling and emotionally resonant.
